About Me

I am a lifelong musician with over twenty years of experience as an instrumentalist, performer, accompanist, vocalist, conductor, adjudicator, composer and instructor.

While I enjoy serving many roles in the world of music, one of my greatest joys in life is being a teacher. 

Voice
My philosophy is that anyone can learn how to sing. With proper training and focus, the voice can be flexible, resonant and expressive. 

As a teacher, my goal is to instill the foundations of healthy vocal technique:

• awareness of body and alignment
• deep, free, easy inhalation and exhalation
• tone development
• musical and artistic expression​

Depending on each student's needs, I work on a wide range of music: jazz, musical theatre, contemporary and classical repertoire. My voice students range from beginners to working professionals, and have a wide array of goals: preparing for auditions, singing in church, performing in musical theatre, rebuilding technique, joining a choir, or just wanting to find their best natural voice.

Piano
I believe that the art of skillful piano playing is rooted in the same basic principles as singing. 
Self-awareness is key for a better understanding of both instruments.

Recognition of breath is a vital aid to developing musical expression, relaxed body placement, and a tool for calming performance anxiety.

While I teach rudiments, such as:

• Technical Skill
• Theory
• Ear-Training
• Musicianship
• Composition
• Improvisation ​

My goal is to do more than teach piano. 
I help guide students in learning patience, perseverance, independence of thought, and finding creative solutions to problems. There is no greater joy than watching a student find their own artistic voice. ​
